Bipartisan Brunch: a legislative kick-off

The ORS 5th Annual Bipartisan Brunch: Legislative Kick-Off (with Mimosas!)

Ohio River South kicked off the second half of the 158th Georgia General Assembly with our 5th Annual Bipartisan Brunch. It’s become one of the best (and bubbly-est) traditions with the Gold Dome crowd. Monday was a key part of our Southern Hospitality series, as we host leaders from across the country and at every level of government to foster connection and collaboration.

This year, we welcomed more than 100 state legislators, local lawmakers, business and civic leaders to our capitol-adjacent offices in south downtown. We brought together officials from both political parties to enjoy a southern brunch and adult beverages (fueling bipartisan harmony!) while discussing priorities for the session.

Kudos to our co-sponsor South Downtown for transporting attendees four blocks west to and from the capitol in the stylish and surprisingly comfortable SoDo golf cart. Also, huge thanks to all the state legislative VIPs who squeezed us into their busy first day, including:

  • Senate Regulated Industries and Utilities Chairman Bill Cowsert
  • Senate Veterans, Military, and Homeland Security Chairman Chuck Payne
  • House Majority Leader Chuck Efstration

We also want to thank all the local officials who came downtown from far and wide to celebrate the start of the session with us. Gwinnett, Clayton, DeKalb, and Fulton counties were all well represented, with the presence of:

  • Newly-elected mayor of the City of South Fulton Carmalitha Gumbs
  • District Attorney for DeKalb County Sherry Boston
  • Chairwoman of Clayton County Dr. Alieka Anderson
  • City of Snellville Councilmember Catherine Hardwick
  • Fulton County Commissioner Mo Ivory
  • . . . and plenty of other state and local officials

We’re always excited to start the year doing what we love: creating opportunities and connections for friends and clients. Thank you to everyone who stopped by. We look forward to hosting you again soon!
