Happy Birthday: ORS Celebrates 2 Years on Hotel Row
Like Ohio River South, the revitalization of South Downtown began as a bold idea, ready to take shape. Today, two years after first moving into our Hotel Row office space, we’ve seen this vision come to life right before our eyes.
David Cummings and Jon Birdsong of Atlanta Ventures believed in that bold idea when they acquired Newport’s ten blocks of historic but underutilized real estate. The South Downtown community now welcomes new restaurants, offices and amenities, along with a neighborhood feel of its own.
As longtime downtown office residents, originating on MLK Street nearly six years ago, ORS has seen the transformation and investment from the start. We’re proud to partner with the SoDo team as they revitalize our storied neighborhood, where they envision a hub for start-ups and entrepreneurs (like us) and where residents and visitors alike can live, work, shop, eat and play. We’re especially looking forward to the latest addition of the Atlanta Tech Village South co-working space, right here in the Sylvan Building.
Although it’s only been two years, Ohio River South has utilized the space to its fullest potential, flexing our power to convene at every chance. We’ve hosted elected officials, including Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, just to name a few, in addition to national and local business and industry leaders.
We’re grateful for Jon and David’s commitment to realizing South Downtown’s fullest potential and bringing back the hustle and bustle the neighborhood once experienced. Cheers to many more anniversaries as our bold ideas come to life!
