Get Fulton Moving

Sandy Springs, GA

Politics
Fulton County residents have long named transportation as the most important issue facing the region. SB 369 authorized counties to ask voters for up to 1% sales tax for transportation spending. Fulton County put a .75 T-SPLOST on the ballot to raise $570 million for roads, bridges and sidewalks. Ohio River South led the effort to pass the referendum in the state’s largest county, but without the benefit of transit voters from its largest city: Atlanta. We ran a robust grassroots and social media campaign with less than $75,000. In the final tally, nearly 240,000 voters cast a ballot. Most of the 13,000-vote margin came from an unlikely source — the City of Sandy Springs — dispelling the myth that northern suburbs would not back transit expansion.
