In the county’s bicentennial year, Ohio River South was contracted to help usher historic transparency into Jefferson County, Alabama. After 200 years, and nearly a full score into the twenty-first century, the state’s largest county still does not provide access to government meetings online, either live or via archive. We were hired to live-stream the very first commission meetings in its two hundred-year history. We built the program from scratch to meet the specifications of a district commissioner, we wrote the specs for how to capture and present the live streams, designed collateral and marketed to constituents to ensure they knew a commissioner was working on their behalf. The program continues on to this day.
